The Busan City Council's Special Committee on Marine Affairs and New Airport Development visited the Gadeokdo Airport Complex City and Gadeokdo New Airport project sites on Friday to review their progress. The visit was arranged so committee members could directly assess the status of projects related to the new airport and receive briefings from relevant agencies.

Attendees included Committee Chair Chae Chang-seop (Saha-gu 3), Vice Chairs Ha Eun-mi (Geumjeong-gu 1) and Park Sang-hyeon (Yeongdo-gu 2), and members Kim Dong-ha (Dongnae-gu 1), Park Mi-sun (Nam-gu 4) and Jeong Yeong-su (Gangseo-gu 2), along with Busan city civil servants and officials from the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Authority.

The committee first visited the airport complex city development site near the Dongseon seawall in Gangseo-gu, where members received a progress report and reviewed key issues. They particularly confirmed the status of the airport complex city development project to ensure it proceeds smoothly in tandem with the new airport construction.

The committee then received a briefing on the new airport construction at the Daehang Observatory. Members said uninterrupted progress on the project was critical, given that the Gadeokdo New Airport is a key piece of infrastructure that will drive Busan's future growth and regional development. They also staged a picket campaign calling for adequate construction costs, swift ground-breaking and timely opening, signaling their commitment to keeping the project on track.

"The Special Committee on Marine Affairs and New Airport Development will continue to inspect relevant project sites and actively respond to major issues, fulfilling its role at the council level to ensure Busan's future growth foundation is built without setback," Committee Chair Chae said.
