Open to Guro-gu residents and workers from Monday through Thursday; 500 boxes of 20 kg salted napa cabbage available at 45,000 won per box via the district website or in person
Guro-gu will run a direct-sale event offering salted napa cabbage from its sister city, Goesan-gun in North Chungcheong Province, ahead of the kimchi-making season.
The event is designed to ease the cost of kimchi preparation for district residents while boosting income for local farmers and strengthening ties between urban and rural communities.
Applications are open to Guro-gu residents and people who work within the district, running from 9 a.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Thursday. Applicants can register online through the Guro-gu website or in person at the Regional Economy Division on the third floor of the district office's main building.
A total of 500 boxes of 20 kg salted napa cabbage are available at 45,000 won ($34) per box. Each applicant may order up to five boxes, and registration closes once supplies run out.
Successful applicants must complete payment by Nov. 4; bank account details will be provided separately.
Distribution will take place Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the entrance to the public parking lot at Guro Arts Valley. Those who prefer home delivery may opt for courier service at an additional 6,000 won per box.
Refunds will not be accepted for personal taste preferences or a change of mind — only for defective products — so applicants are advised to consider their order carefully before submitting.
For more information, visit the Guro-gu website or contact the Regional Economy Division.
Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong said he hopes the event will lighten the burden of kimchi preparation for residents while also benefiting farmers in Goesan-gun. "We will continue working to help residents purchase quality agricultural products at reasonable prices," he said.
