Event held Thursday at Pullman Hotel
61 teachers completed 8-day domestic and overseas study tour
Chairman Park Yong-hyun pledges continued support for educators
The Doosan Yonkang Foundation held a publication ceremony Thursday at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel to mark the release of a field study journal compiled by science teachers, the foundation announced Friday.
Since 2007, the foundation has organized academic field study tours for recipients of the "Science Teacher of the Year" award, a program hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and administered by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, among others. Starting last year, the program expanded to include winners of the Korea Mathematics Education Award. Across 20 editions, a total of 698 teachers have participated.
This year's program ran in two rounds — in January and June — with 61 elementary, middle and high school teachers taking part. The journal documents their experiences and reflections from an eight-day tour covering domestic industrial sites as well as Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan.
"A teacher's new experiences become the force that nurtures students' dreams," Chairman Park Yong-hyun said at the event. "We will continue to actively support teachers who dedicate themselves to developing talent."
