Damyang-gun announced Friday it had been named an outstanding institution in the "2026 Balanced Growth Project Autonomous Account Best Practices" evaluation, organized by the Presidential Commission on Local Era, for its Damyang-eup rural center revitalization project.

The commission selects outstanding cases each year to assess the progress of balanced-growth projects and share results that draw on the distinct characteristics of each region.

Damyang-gun pursued the project as part of a general rural and fishing village development initiative, building the Dambitnuri Center — a community-led cultural and welfare hub — under the theme "Dambitnuri, enjoyed by all."

"Being named an outstanding institution is the result of identifying projects the community needs and working together to achieve them," Damyang-gun County Chief Park Jong-won said. "We will consistently seek out projects suited to local conditions and the everyday needs of residents, so that all parts of Damyang-gun can develop evenly."
