Yongsan-gu in Seoul said it will hold a public review period from Friday through Nov. 23 to gather residents' opinions on a proposed revision to the designation and development plan for the Sanho apartment reconstruction project.

Completed in 1977, the Sanho apartment complex — located in the Wonhyo-ro 4-ga 118-16 area — sits along the scenic Han River waterfront and adjacent to the Yongsan International Business District, which is slated to become a global business hub, making it a strategically and scenically significant site.

The revised plan centers on changes to the building height and overall landscape design. The existing reconstruction plan, which called for a maximum of 35 stories and 679 units, has been reconfigured to a maximum of 47 stories and 666 units — including 100 public housing units — in line with the 2040 Seoul Urban Master Plan guidelines.

The Sanho apartment reconstruction association received project implementation approval in March 2024 and completed the management and disposal plan approval in August this year. The association plans to revise the development plan in line with Seoul Metropolitan Government guidelines and pursue an integrated review covering six areas, including architecture, landscape, transportation, education and small-scale disaster impact assessment.

Since the launch of the ninth elected-term administration, Yongsan-gu has operated a rapid implementation task force to accelerate reconstruction projects, monitoring progress at each stage and strengthening administrative support on key issues. The Sanho reconstruction project completed its management and disposal plan approval through close coordination between the district and the association, and follow-up procedures to revise the development plan are now under way.

Yongsan-gu will hold a public information session on Wednesday to gather residents' input. After the session, the district plans to seek the district council's opinion before submitting a request to the Seoul Metropolitan Government for approval of the revised development plan and pursuing the integrated review process.

"We will spare no administrative support to ensure that the revision of the development plan and the integrated review proceed smoothly through close communication with the association," Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae said.
