Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province held the second regular meeting of the 9th elected-term North Gyeongsang Mayors and County Chiefs Council at the Seonbi World Convention Hall on Wednesday.

About 120 people attended, including council chair Ju Nak-young, the mayor of Gyeongju, along with mayors, county chiefs and provincial civil servants from across the province.

Participants discussed key regional and administrative issues, including proposals to improve land compensation and acquisition procedures for cultural heritage sites, expanded support for middle-aged and older farmers, and a broader pool of eligible operators for the entrusted management of youth training centers.

The gathering also focused on sharing views on systemic and administrative challenges common to multiple cities and counties, and on finding practical solutions and coordinated responses. Participants additionally exchanged schedules for major local festivals and cultural events across the region.

Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik said he hoped the meeting would "serve as an opportunity to strengthen communication and cooperation among cities and counties and to pursue shared growth across North Gyeongsang Province."
