Damyang-gun is developing a strategy to attract public institutions by leveraging the county's regional strengths ahead of the government's second round of public institution relocations to the provinces.
The county has formed a dedicated task force led by the head of its planning and budget office to analyze the government's relocation policy and track developments among candidate institutions, with the aim of assessing which ones it could realistically attract.
The county is targeting public institutions in the fields of culture, arts, education, research, environment and ecology — sectors that can be linked to the area's humanities and ecological resources.
Damyang-gun also plans to highlight its locational advantages, including its proximity to Gwangju, access to a regional transportation network and a comfortable living environment.
"We will sharpen our case for attracting institutions based on Damyang's strengths and respond proactively in line with the government's relocation plans," County Mayor Park Jong-won said.
