The Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City announced Wednesday that it is accepting open applications for nine open-designation posts, including a director of semiconductor industry support. Applications will be accepted from Nov. 2 to 6, with final candidates selected by late November following document screening and interviews.
The city posted recruitment notices for nine open-designation positions: director of semiconductor industry support, director of regional healthcare innovation, director of external affairs, director of democracy, human rights and peace, director of legal affairs, head of the business grievance center, and three civil affairs directors — one each for the integrated, general and eastern affairs offices.
The positions cover the city's core policy priorities, including semiconductor industry development, establishment of a national medical school, securing central government funding and building an integrated administrative framework.
The director of semiconductor industry support, a Grade 1-equivalent post, will oversee the development of a national semiconductor industrial complex, expansion of supporting infrastructure and attraction of investment.
The Grade 2 director of regional healthcare innovation will handle efforts to reduce healthcare disparities, expand public medical services and establish a national medical school.
Three Grade 3-equivalent posts round out the senior tier: the director of democracy, human rights and peace will carry on the spirit of the May 18 pro-democracy movement and oversee related human rights work; the director of legal affairs will manage local ordinance reform and handle litigation and administrative appeals; and the director of external affairs will coordinate with the central government and the National Assembly to secure state funding.
Three Grade 4-equivalent civil affairs directors will be assigned separately to the Gwangju, Muan and eastern branch offices to handle and coordinate civil petitions in their respective areas.
The city will also recruit a new head of the business grievance center, a Grade 4 post responsible for resolving corporate difficulties and improving regulation.
