Actor An Yong-jun has been sued on charges of fraud and forgery of private documents involving approximately 500 million won ($377,000).
According to the Hankook Ilbo, complainant A filed a complaint against An on Wednesday at the Haeundae Police Station in Busan, alleging fraud, forgery and use of forged private documents, and forgery of a private seal.
A's legal representatives said An presented exclusive contracts bearing the names of well-known actors and proposed that investing in performances, fan meetings and album production projects would yield profit-sharing returns. The contracts, however, were allegedly fabricated documents with forged names, signatures and seals.
A's side also claimed that An said he had signed an album production deal with a major entertainment agency, when in fact no such contract existed. An invoice An presented in connection with a repayment deposit was also allegedly forged.
The total damages claimed by A amount to 489.63 million won. The figure includes not only unreturned investment funds but also amounts that A is reportedly being asked to repay to third parties.
A's attorney said there appear to be additional victims and has asked investigators to look into whether further damages exist.
A representative of An's former agency, Cremate Media, said, "I am also a victim and will be filing a complaint soon."
An made his debut in 2006 and has appeared in the drama series "Jumong," "Banollim 3," "Gyeongseong Scandal," "Jeon Woo-chi" and "Secret House." His exclusive contract with Cremate Media has since ended.
