CJ CheilJedang is partnering with local governments and public institutions to revitalize the regional economy of South Jeolla Province and Gwangju and build a sustainable foundation for shared growth.

The company took part in a signing ceremony for the South Jeolla-Gwangju Regional Shared-Growth Consultative Body, held Tuesday at the Shared Growth Committee in Jung-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Shared Growth Committee Chairman Jang In-hwa, South Jeolla-Gwangju Integrated Special City Deputy Mayor for Industry and Economy Kang Myung-su, and CJ CheilJedang Division Head Kim Chan-ho.

The consultative body serves as a cooperation platform through which local governments, businesses and public institutions pool their capabilities and resources to tackle regional challenges and promote economic vitality. Participating organizations plan to identify and expand collaborative models that enable shared growth with local communities.

CJ CheilJedang will advance regional cooperation through the South Jeolla-Gwangju Local Food Sales Expansion Project. As a first step, the company will create pathways to fill workforce demand generated by new product launches and production volume increases at regional partner companies by recruiting local talent.

CJ CheilJedang will also use its retail and marketing capabilities — including its official online store CJ The Market and its shared-growth brand Jeulgeoun Donghaeng — to identify and support outstanding local businesses. Partner companies participating in Jeulgeoun Donghaeng have seen average annual sales grow 37 percent over the past seven years.

"Drawing on the capabilities we have built across our food business, CJ CheilJedang will continue to support the growth of outstanding regional companies and deliver shared-growth results that contribute to revitalizing local economies," Kim said.
