Ulsan city has signed memorandums of understanding with local construction associations and 12 major construction companies to boost the regional construction industry.

Ulsan city and major construction firms — including Samsung C&T, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, DL E&C, Lotte Engineering & Construction, SK Ecoplant and Ipark Hyundai Development — signed the MOUs Tuesday at the 2026 Meeting Day for Large Construction Companies and Local Businesses, held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center. Under the agreements, the parties pledged to cooperate on expanding subcontracting opportunities for local firms, activating vendor registration, prioritizing locally produced materials and equipment, and giving preference to local workers in hiring.

A separate MOU on shared growth was also signed among Ulsan city, Ipark Hyundai Development and local construction associations to expand local firms' participation in construction projects and strengthen cooperation through an outsourcing management hub system.

Alongside this, 12 recruiting companies — comprising nine major construction firms and three local general contractors — and 21 participating companies registered as partner vendors to build substantive cooperative relationships, with the aim of connecting them to future bidding and project opportunities.

The event drew participation from 14 major construction companies and three local general contractors, as well as firms in the mechanical, electrical, fire protection and telecommunications sectors, and employment-related agencies.

During the consultation sessions, major construction companies shared their vendor registration criteria, project participation procedures, and technology and quality requirements, while local firms introduced their capabilities and construction track records.

Ulsan city plans to use the event as a springboard to strengthen a cooperative foundation linking the capabilities of major construction companies with the competitiveness of local firms, translating the partnership into tangible outcomes — including expanded subcontracting participation, greater use of local materials and equipment, and increased local employment.
