Shinsegae Academy, operated by Shinsegae department store, announced Wednesday that it is opening enrollment for its 2026 winter semester.

The lineup is designed to help participants look back on the year and prepare for the new one. A standout offering is "The Art of Raising Your Fortune" by Park Sung-jun, a fortune teller and feng shui consultant, to be held at the main branch, the Hanam branch and Daegu Shinsegae. The course uses traditional Korean almanac charts to help participants understand their own fortune structure and learn how to make the most of their innate energy.

Broadcaster Mark Tetto will present "The Beauty of Korea as Loved by Mark Tetto: From Hanok to Contemporary Art," exploring the meaning behind Korean contemporary art and traditional hanok architecture. Yang Tae-oh, named one of the world's top 100 designers, will discuss his personal design philosophy and the value of space in a lecture titled "Stories of Space and Taste."

A seasonal program called "Winter Festa" rounds out the offerings. Cooking classes will cover Christmas desserts — including gugelhupf, a European ring-shaped cake — along with strawberry cake and Italian home-party menus. Flower classes will focus on making fresh-flower wreaths and Christmas trees, while a kids' program will feature a Santa magic show and ornament-making.

Daegu Shinsegae is marking its 10th anniversary this year with special lectures. Former Samsung Lions pitcher Oh Seung-hwan will speak on "Challenge and Choice," sharing his journey to becoming a top player and how he overcame adversity. Buddhist monk Jungjae, a temple food specialist affiliated with the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, will also lead a course titled "A Seasonal Table Drawn from Nature."

Enrollment for the winter semester is available through the Shinsegae department store website and mobile app. Existing members may register from Wednesday, while new members may sign up from Thursday.
