Singer MC Mong has announced he will pause his TikTok live broadcasts for now.
During a TikTok live session Tuesday, MC Mong said he would be stepping away from the platform. "I'm going to stop TikTok for a while," he said. "Thank you for watching and cheering me on for 10 months."
He then reflected on memorable moments from his live broadcasts, adding, "My style has always been to disappear without a word."
MC Mong said he plans to take a break of at least three to six months, with Oct. 31 set as his final broadcast date.
MC Mong launched his TikTok live channel in December last year and kept up broadcasts for roughly 10 months, drawing attention with a series of controversies, including remarks targeting fellow entertainers.
In May, he sparked a backlash after making statements suggesting that singer Kim Min-jong had been involved in illegal gambling, accepting money and gifts, and bribing witnesses.
Kim's side filed a complaint against MC Mong in September, but the dispute was resolved when MC Mong visited Kim in person to apologize.
Meanwhile, MC Mong is set to meet fans through a series of free nationwide performances in November.
