Imunwon Bio, a company focused on hair loss technology, has registered a patent for the core technology behind a system that systematically records and manages patients' health conditions. The company is expanding its research and development capabilities — built around natural-ingredient materials and hair growth technology — into patient data management.

Imunwon Bio announced Tuesday that it had registered a patent for a "wellness diagnosis method, system and device" with the Korean Intellectual Property Office. The registration was completed Oct. 2, about six months after the company filed the application in April.

The patent covers the foundational technology for a body recording system, or BRS, which continuously logs and manages information related to a patient's physical condition. It focuses on tracking patient status over an extended period and organizing the associated data in a structured way.

With this latest registration, Imunwon Bio's total patent portfolio has grown to 12. The company began with a foundational patent on hair growth promotion using Arisaema extract and has since developed technologies using natural materials such as maesaengi seaweed and barley sprouts.

Last year, the company registered a patent for a "hair growth-promoting composition through follicular stem cell activation." The technology has also completed PCT international filing, and the acupuncture product derived from it, Super Hair Shot, has been supplied to traditional Korean medicine clinics nationwide since April.

More recently, the company has been accelerating efforts to secure technology for analyzing and managing hair loss-related data. In March, it registered two separate patents — one for a server that analyzes customer responses to hair loss questionnaires, and another for a method and server that delivers guidance messages on hair loss treatment products.

With the addition of the BRS technology, the company said it has laid the groundwork to connect information spanning initial consultation, diagnosis, product guidance and follow-up care into a single data framework. Imunwon Bio currently has 17 additional patents pending, including PCT international applications.

The technological development draws on clinical experience accumulated at Imunwon Korean Medicine Clinic, which opened in 2005. The clinic treated 13,101 foreign patients from 103 countries over the three years from 2023 through last year, with more than 5,000 foreign patients visiting in the last year alone.

Imunwon Bio is developing related technologies based on that clinical experience and also operates a corporate research institute. In September, it received certification as an "outstanding employee invention compensation company" from the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Invention Promotion Association.

"Hair loss is not a condition that ends with a single treatment — it is a lifelong condition to be managed," CEO Lee Moon-won said. "We will turn more than 20 years of clinical experience into data and standardized systems to bring the expertise of Korean medicine to the global market."
