Hampyeong-gun has renovated the plant exhibition halls at Hampyeong Expo Park ahead of the 2026 National Chrysanthemum Festival, which opens Friday, aiming to offer visitors a fresh range of botanical attractions.

The county announced Tuesday that it would operate the plant exhibition halls throughout the festival so that visitors could enjoy a variety of plants and distinctive exhibition spaces.

The plant exhibition complex at Hampyeong Expo Park comprises four halls: a succulent plant hall, a natural ecology hall, a subtropical agriculture hall and an aquatic plant hall. Each hall showcases a different set of plants and natural environments.

The succulent plant hall features agave, cacti and other unusually shaped succulents. This autumn, many of the plants have taken on vivid fall colors, adding a seasonal dimension to the display.

The natural ecology hall, centered on wildflowers and a variety of trees, invites visitors to observe a natural ecosystem up close and reflect on the value of life and nature.

The subtropical agriculture hall is filled with plants rarely encountered in everyday life, including dragon fruit, passion fruit, bitter melon, coffee and pineapple. On weekends and public holidays during the festival, the hall will run a banana-harvesting experience program for visitors.

The aquatic plant hall has been redesigned for the festival around the theme "A Small Concert in the Jungle." A piano has been placed among dense tropical plants and aquatic species to evoke the feel of an intimate jungle recital. Visitors can take in the lush green surroundings and capture photos with the piano as a backdrop.

The county said it plans to continuously maintain the exhibition halls and monitor plant growth conditions throughout the festival to ensure a comfortable environment for visitors.

"We are preparing a wide range of exhibitions at the plant halls to give visitors to the 2026 National Chrysanthemum Festival an even richer experience," Hampyeong-gun County Mayor Lee Nam-o said. "We hope everyone takes home special autumn memories along with an appreciation of nature's beauty at Hampyeong Expo Park."

The 2026 National Chrysanthemum Festival runs from Friday through Nov. 8 — 17 days in total — at Hampyeong Expo Park, under the theme "Mythical Chrysanthemum Garden."
