Partnership to use Seoul's 'Fun Station' spaces in subway stops
A plan is underway to let older residents manage their health and access disease prevention services at smart exercise stations inside subway stops.
Healthcare company Jowin announced Tuesday that it has signed an MOU with Taekyung to pursue the initiative.
The two companies will establish a health management and disease prevention education center inside a smart exercise station. Older visitors will be able to receive personalized health consultations — including reviews of medical checkup results, assessments of at-risk indicators and disease prevention counseling — alongside their workouts. The partners also plan to operate a patented health insurance model under which users who develop a condition while taking preventive health products can receive insurance payouts.
The setup creates a continuous loop from exercise to checkup management, prevention and coverage. The two companies also agreed to develop and roll out new services using smart measurement devices.
The project will launch at the smart exercise station at Meokgol Station on Seoul Metro Line 7 — the third space created under the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Fun Station project, which converts unused areas inside subway stations into public exercise facilities. The station is equipped with AI-based fitness and body-composition measurement tools, smart strength-training machines that adjust resistance to match each user's data, and a screen park golf facility designed to be accessible to older adults. Taekyung operates the Fun Station as the site's designated operator.
"Rather than stopping at a checkup, we want to build a lifestyle health management platform that helps people understand their results and follow through with prevention and coverage — extending healthy life expectancy," Jowin CEO Yoo Seok-ho said. "We will establish a model that allows older people to look after their health naturally while also preventing disease."
