US President Donald Trump said Friday (local time) that "Hyundai just announced they will invest $560 million to expand their factory in West Point, Georgia."

Trump made the remarks during a midterm election campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, citing Hyundai's investment plan as an example of foreign companies investing in the United States.

"Our country is doing so well under Republican leadership," Trump said, touting his administration's policy achievements. The investment appears to refer to plans by Hyundai Transys, the auto parts manufacturing affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp had also announced in a press release on Oct. 8 that the company "plans to create 320 new jobs as part of its continued efforts to support global automotive customers operating in North America."

According to the release, Hyundai Transys will use the investment to modernize its existing Plant 1 and Plant 2 in West Point and build a new Plant 3.

Georgia said the expansion "will support increased production capacity for electrified powertrains for hybrid vehicles," adding that Hyundai Transys plans to hire in administrative, managerial and production roles.
