The visit was part of the official program of the Asia-Pacific Healthy Cities Partnership Workshop, co-organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Bloomberg Philanthropies (Vital Strategies). Thirty-nine health experts from six cities observed AI- and IoT-based senior health management programs and other leading public health initiatives.
Health experts from major Asia-Pacific cities visited the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center on Thursday, the district said.
The visit was part of the official program of the Asia-Pacific Healthy Cities Partnership Workshop, co-organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Bloomberg Philanthropies (Vital Strategies). A total of 39 health experts and officials from six Asia-Pacific cities attended, along with representatives from Bloomberg Philanthropies (Vital Strategies) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Participants toured the health center's key public health facilities, including the civil affairs office, maternal and child health center, community health management center, smoking cessation clinic and nutrition information center — covering services that span residents' entire life cycles.
Gwangjin-gu drew particular interest with its AI- and IoT-based senior health management program, one of Seoul's recognized model public health initiatives.
The program is a remote care service that monitors the daily health of elderly residents in real time using smart wristbands, blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters and other connected devices. Data collected through the "Today's Health" app is reviewed by health center professionals, who then provide personalized health consultations. The program has drawn attention as an innovative public health model for an era of rapid population aging.
Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said the district has pursued a wide range of health policies to realize its vision of a "sustainable healthy city." He expressed hope that the visit would strengthen the network of advanced public health policy among Asia-Pacific cities and serve as a springboard for their collective growth as global healthy cities.
