In partnership with NH NongHyup Bank's Hongcheon-gun branch
Hongcheon-gun in Gangwon Province has set aside 5 billion won ($3.71 million) in construction funds to support the planned metropolitan railway linking Gyeonggi Province's Yongmun to Hongcheon.
According to Hongcheon-gun, the county and NH NongHyup Bank's Hongcheon-gun branch held a ceremony Friday to mark the fund deposit and pledged to continue cooperating toward the successful completion of the Yongmun–Hongcheon metropolitan railway project.
The two parties agreed to work together on building and managing the fund, secure the financial resources needed for the railway project, and push for its timely delivery through a partnership aimed at advancing the region's development.
"The Yongmun–Hongcheon metropolitan railway is a critical piece of infrastructure that will transform Hongcheon's future, which is why it is essential to prepare thoroughly from ground-breaking through to opening," Hongcheon-gun County Mayor Shin Young-jae said. "We will do our utmost to ensure that the railway construction fund and all other necessary financing are prepared carefully and without delay, so that the Hongcheon railway project our residents have long awaited can proceed on schedule."
Hongcheon-gun is concentrating its administrative efforts on the project, targeting a ground-breaking in 2030 and an opening after 2034.
The county plans to build on this initial 5 billion won deposit by setting aside additional funds each year, strengthening its financial readiness for construction and working alongside residents to shape a new future for Hongcheon.
