The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education will host the "2026 Cyber Dokdo School Dokdo Day Online Festival" from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, inviting students, school staff and the general public nationwide to participate in observance of Dokdo Day on Oct. 25.
The festival will be organized around four categories: spotting Dokdo in everyday life, creating short videos, sharing classroom work and exploring a metaverse experience.
The first activity, "Finding 1025 Dokdo in My Daily Life," asks participants to photograph anything in their surroundings connected to Dokdo or featuring the number "1025" — a symbol of Dokdo Day — and share the images with their classmates.
The activity is designed to help students encounter Dokdo naturally in their daily lives and develop a sense of familiarity with the islets.
The second activity, "10-Second Dokdo Short Talk," challenges students to capture the nature, history and significance of Dokdo in a video clip of 10 seconds or less.
Students can share their videos and messages about Dokdo on their personal or class SNS accounts to spread awareness.
"Learning and Remembering Dokdo with Monthly Dokdo" invites teachers to incorporate the September or October issue of "Monthly Dokdo," a publication provided by the Cyber Dokdo School, into their lessons and then share student work online.
"Cyber Dokdo Metaverse Ranking 50" lets participants build their knowledge of Dokdo by completing missions and playing games in the Cyber Dokdo Metaverse.
Students, school staff and members of the public who wish to take part can visit the Cyber Dokdo School website and follow the instructions for each program on the relevant notice board.
In conjunction with the online festival, the provincial education office plans to hold a ground-breaking ceremony for a Dokdo Education Center and a Dokdo Day event on Ulleungdo on Oct. 24.
"I hope this online festival gives students, school staff and all citizens a chance to feel closer to Dokdo," North Gyeongsang Provincial Superintendent of Education Im Jong-sik said. "We will continue to expand Dokdo education so that anyone can participate with ease."
Meanwhile, the Cyber Dokdo School, which marks its fifth anniversary this year, has recorded about 3.09 million cumulative visitors and 32,400 graduates to date, establishing itself as a nationwide platform for Dokdo education.
