The Nakdong River National Institute of Biological Resources announced Thursday that it has obtained ISO 27701 international standard certification for privacy information management systems.
ISO 27701 is an international standard that sets out the requirements for establishing and operating a management framework to systematically protect and manage personal information.
The certification covers the institute's personal information protection management framework across all of its operations — from freshwater organism research to public-facing services such as exhibitions and education, to the management of information systems.
Do Ki-yong, head of the institute's strategic planning office, said the certification "is the result of official recognition that the institute's personal information protection management framework meets international standards."
