South plaza to host a resident-organized village festival Saturday; 72 teams to run flea market stalls on the north plaza
Seoul's Seongdong-gu will hold the "2026 Seongdong Community Together Festival & Family Love Flea Market" at Wangsimni Station plaza starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, bringing together residents and families for a day of community activities.
The event is designed to revive neighborhood community culture and promote the values of environmental awareness and resource recycling through the buying and selling of secondhand goods.
The Seongdong Community Together Festival, organized by the Seongdong-gu Village Autonomy Support Center, will take place on the south plaza of Wangsimni Station. It will feature 30 hands-on booths prepared by resident groups, local institutions and organizations participating in the district's community project grant program, along with eight resident performance teams — including a cheerleading squad and a traditional percussion group. Residents have been involved in planning the festival from the ground up.
At the same time, the Family Love Flea Market will open on the north plaza. The market gives families a space to share and sell used household items and handmade crafts with neighbors, and offers children a chance to join their parents as vendors — learning basic economic skills and the importance of environmental protection. A total of 72 teams selected through advance online registration will take part.
Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yu Bo-hwa said she hopes the festival will "rekindle the warmth between neighbors and give families a chance to share the meaning of resource recycling and environmental protection together." She added that the district would "consistently seek out and develop community events led and participated in by residents."
