Event set for Saturday; tied to Seoul Metropolitan Government's 'Book-Reading Han River Park' project
Booknicking zones, curated titles and author talks on offer
As autumn deepens, a reading-and-outing event is coming to a Han River park this weekend.
KT Millie's Library, South Korea's largest reading platform, will host its "Unlimited Reading Contest" at Yeouido Han River Park in Seoul on Saturday.
The venue will feature an "unlimited reading zone" that blends rest and reading. Visitors can choose between a "book-gazing" area — where they can sink into a beanbag chair and read at leisure — and a "booknicking" zone set up under parasols.
A dedicated Millie's Library zone will showcase a curated selection of titles, including highlight passages chosen by members, all-time classic picks, featured originals, publisher recommendations and Millie stories. The first 1,000 visitors who stop by the zone and then head to the gift zone will receive a small gift and a one-day Millie's Library subscription pass.
Author talks will also give visitors a chance to engage with experts. Kim Dae-su, author of the Millie original "Attention," will speak on the theme of concentration, while Jang Dong-sun, author of "How AI Is Changing the World," will discuss AI.
The event is held in conjunction with the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Han River Headquarters outdoor library project, "Book-Reading Han River Park" — an open space where anyone can freely enjoy books, culture and relaxation. The project offers a range of book and cultural arts programs; a "Han River Autumn Jazz Festa" is also scheduled for Saturday.
"We hope visitors will discover the joy of reading in a way that suits their own tastes and carry that into a daily reading habit," said Choi Chan-wook, head of the marketing division at KT Millie's Library.
