A heartwarming story of unexpected gratitude following a simple act of generosity on a secondhand trading platform has been making the rounds online.

A user identified only as A shared the story on Threads, recounting how a neighbor she had connected with through the Karrot platform recently surprised her with a thoughtful gift.

A said she had posted her second child's old shoes as a free giveaway on Karrot in the spring and ended up throwing in some clothes as well. "She came with a bunch of snacks back then, which already touched me," A wrote, adding that the neighbor reached out Thursday to offer sweet potatoes. "She said she had a lot come in from the countryside and asked if she could leave some on my door handle."

In the message A shared publicly, the neighbor introduced herself as the mother who had received the children's clothes and sneakers through Karrot. She explained that she wanted to drop off some sweet potatoes using the "door-handle" method — a contactless exchange in which items are hung on the recipient's front door handle.

A replied by asking how the baby was doing and thanked the neighbor for thinking of her after all this time.

The post drew more than 190,000 views, with users flooding the comments. "This is so warm and heartening," one wrote. "A beautiful story after a long time," said another. Others added, "There are moments when you get worn out from giving, so this is really moving."

A later posted a follow-up revealing what she had received: homemade bread, sweet potatoes and organic pumpkin. "I packed her bag full in return — my kid's shoes and even a cashmere knit," she wrote.

"There are plenty of bad reviews in secondhand trading, but I feel like I've met a truly wonderful neighbor," she added. "I'm glad this became a chance to show that there are a lot of good people out there."
