Gangnam-gu held its 2026 Residents' Autonomy Committee Workshop on Tuesday at Sono Calm Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, bringing committee members together to strengthen their capabilities and foster communication and unity.

The workshop was organized to recognize the contributions of residents' autonomy committee members active across each dong and to deepen their understanding of and shared commitment to community self-governance through networking.

The event drew 400 committee members from 22 dong and featured a range of programs, including a communication lecture and cultural performances. Participants reflected on the core roles of residents' autonomy committees and the direction of community development, while taking time to bond and recharge.

Gangnam-gu said it will continue to actively support the capacity building and activities of residents' autonomy committee members, and will pursue a range of policies to promote community self-governance that reflects the distinct character of each dong, grounded in residents' voluntary participation and open communication.

"I am deeply grateful to the residents' autonomy committee members who listen to the voices of the community on the ground and lead the way in communication and harmony," Gangnam-gu District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki said. "We will continue to communicate and cooperate closely with you to bring about new changes and progress in Gangnam that residents can feel in their daily lives."
