Gwangjin-gu will hold its 12th Gandetgol Festival on Saturday at Jungnangcheon Sports Park and Water Play Area.

The Gandetgol Festival is a signature community event where residents of Junggok-dong come together to connect and celebrate. First held in 2013, the festival marks its 12th edition this year. The name "Gandetgol" derives from the traditional names "Gandetmal" and "Gandenmmal," historically used to refer to the Junggok-dong area situated between Neungdong and Myeonmok-dong.

This year's theme is "Connecting Dreams, Connecting Junggok," with a lineup of resident-led performances and family-friendly programs. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to all Gwangjin-gu residents.

An opening performance at 10:30 a.m. will set the festive mood ahead of the official opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Performers including Jeong Da-han, Monkeys and Mansong-i will take the stage with a variety of acts.

Residents will also have their moment in the spotlight. A community center showcase will give participants a chance to display skills they have honed throughout the year, while a residents' singing contest will let neighbors share their vocal talents and stage presence.

The festival grounds will also feature hands-on activity programs for the whole family, a food market and a prize raffle — all aimed at giving residents a memorable autumn day.

"I hope the Gandetgol Festival becomes a place where neighbors share warmth and the people of Junggok-dong come together as one," District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said. "I invite everyone to enjoy a meaningful autumn day filled with diverse performances and activities alongside family and friends."
