Scattered Sujain know-how unified through AI
Accuracy and speed of on-site technical decisions improved
BS Hanyang announced Thursday that it has developed B-ON, an AI agent designed to support technical operations at construction sites, and has begun full-scale deployment.
B-ON is a construction site-specialized AI that BS Hanyang built in-house on Microsoft's Copilot platform. The system has been trained on the company's accumulated internal technical data — including construction manuals by work type, construction guidelines, structural design guidelines and standard construction drawings — and provides field workers with answers grounded in precise technical standards.
Unlike the company's existing in-house AI chatbot, which was used mainly for administrative functions such as human resources, general affairs and IT, B-ON focuses directly on supporting technical standards for construction sites across architecture, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical systems, and ancillary civil works.
For example, if a worker enters a query such as "Tell me the standards for tile installation and quality control," the system goes beyond the general construction guidelines that a typical generative AI would provide and also presents BS Hanyang's own, more stringent internal technical standards.
To further strengthen the reliability of its responses, B-ON displays the document name and page number of the source material behind each answer and provides a direct link, allowing field workers to verify the relevant standards on the spot.
BS Hanyang had previously operated its mechanical and electrical manuals platform and its generative AI chatbot as separate systems. Feedback from staff indicated that having technical data scattered across multiple systems — and in large volumes — was reducing practical usability. The company formed a task force to consolidate the various technical resources and unify them under B-ON. Because technical field practitioners participated directly in the development rather than outsourcing it, the company says the process also raised its internal AI capabilities.
BS Hanyang expects B-ON to improve on-site work efficiency, shorten the learning curve for new employees and convert accumulated technical know-how into a reusable knowledge asset. The company plans to conduct training sessions for field practitioners this month before rolling out the system across all its sites.
The development is part of the "AI management" initiative, one of four key priorities under BS Group's management theme of "Innovation" for this year. BS Group is also strengthening its infrastructure position by pursuing the development of a national AI computing center and an AI data center park in Solaseado, Haenam, South Jeolla Province, while at the same time expanding AI adoption across its affiliates' operations.
"B-ON is a system that makes the technical standards and on-site know-how accumulated under the Sujain brand available anytime, anywhere," a BS Hanyang official said. "In line with the group's AI management direction, we will continue to expand field-centered AI use and steadily improve our competitiveness in quality and safety."
Meanwhile, BS Hanyang is focusing on strengthening its project management capabilities and financial soundness on the back of its construction order performance. The company is diversifying its order portfolio across private, public and social overhead capital projects to maintain a stable backlog.
