New outlet expected to serve as anchor tenant and boost local commerce
Musinsa Standard opened its first store in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, on Thursday, marking an acceleration of the brand's regional expansion strategy.
The opening marks Musinsa Standard's first entry into South Gyeongsang Province, having previously operated stores in major Yeongnam cities including Daegu, Busan and Ulsan. Changwon, the industrial and economic hub of South Gyeongsang Province, is expected to give the brand significantly greater access to local customers.
The Changwon store is located inside Lotte Department Store's Young Plaza Changwon, situated in the heart of the city's commercial district near Changwon City Hall and Changwon Plaza. The store is expected to serve as an anchor tenant, drawing in customers in their teens through 30s in addition to the department store's existing clientele.
The store spans approximately 990 square meters and carries a wide range of products across men's, women's, kids', beauty and home categories, catering to both young shoppers and families.
To mark the Changwon opening, Musinsa Standard is rolling out a series of locally focused promotions. The brand has partnered with three local cafes — Twaetmoa, Nonslip and Famous Benny — to release exclusive menu items, and has arranged coupon tie-ups with eight other cafes in the area.
On opening day, the brand will sell 50 limited "super bags" — each containing outerwear, knitwear, pants and other products valued at around 300,000 won ($224) — for 49,900 won each, on a first-come, first-served basis. On Thursday and Friday, the first 100 customers each day will receive a 50 percent discount coupon worth up to 50,000 won. Through Oct. 18, the store will also offer special deals with discounts of up to 60 percent.
"We have consistently received requests from customers in the Changwon area to open a physical store," a Musinsa Standard official said. "We expect the store to serve as an anchor tenant that draws younger shoppers and boosts foot traffic for the department store, while also energizing the surrounding commercial district through our partnerships with local cafes."
