Democratic Party of Korea floor leader Han Byung-do on Thursday called on Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to stop blaming others and instead work with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to present responsible alternatives that support faster housing supply.

Speaking at a national audit strategy meeting at the National Assembly, Han said Oh had once again blamed his predecessor, claiming the supply base for 440,000 units designated as redevelopment zones had collapsed. "That is an irresponsible remark that ignores the sitting mayor's own responsibility for Seoul's housing shortage," Han said.

Han also pushed back on Oh's opposition to using the Yongsan park site for housing. He said the land returned from the US military base could accommodate rapid housing construction while preserving the park's green spaces and existing facilities.

"We are not proposing to develop the entire site," he added. "The goal is to build homes for young people and newlyweds while also enhancing the value of the park."

Han urged the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the People Power Party to join efforts to stabilize housing for the public, saying the Democratic Party and the Lee Jae Myung administration would make swift housing supply their top priority and deploy every available legislative and policy tool to that end.
