Date change due to rain forecast on Oct. 18

The Hwahyeon-myeon Residents' Autonomy Council in Pocheon announced Thursday that the 21st Pocheon Unak Mountain Autumn Foliage Festival, originally scheduled for Oct. 18, has been postponed to Oct. 25 due to a rain forecast.

The festival will be held at Pocheon Unak Mountain Plaza (168 Hwadong-ro, Hwahyeon-myeon, Pocheon) and will feature an opening ceremony, performances by the Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation and the city's municipal arts troupe, food events and hands-on activities, offering visitors a range of entertainment centered on the fall foliage season.

A pre-ceremony program starting at 10 a.m. will showcase performances by members of the Hwahyeon-myeon Community Center, including nanta drumming, line dancing and gogojanggu percussion. A formal opening ceremony will follow at 11 a.m., hosted by announcer Kim Na-yeon, with a performance by the 5th Corps military band.

From 1:30 p.m., the program will include a lucky-draw raffle, a quiz event and a DJ party. Invited singers — Yun Su-hyeon, Aurora, Miss Kim, Lee Byeong-chan and Song Min-gyeong — will then take the stage to add to the festive atmosphere.

Additional attractions will include a traditional market, food trucks, a tank display and free hands-on activities. Visitors will be able to enjoy the autumn foliage of Unak Mountain alongside a variety of cultural events in Hwahyeon-myeon.

Yu O-yeol, chair of the Hwahyeon-myeon Residents' Autonomy Council, said the schedule was changed "to ensure visitors can enjoy the festival in a safer and more comfortable environment given the weather conditions." He asked for understanding from residents and tourists over the change, and urged broad participation in the Oct. 25 festival.
