Cheongdo-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a special preparedness briefing, attended by department heads and township chiefs, to ensure the successful staging of the 2026 Cheongdo Bansi Festival and Cheongdo World Comedy Art Festival, running Friday through Sunday.
The briefing, held Tuesday at the county office, was organized to conduct a final review of each department's preparations ahead of the festival opening and to reaffirm the cooperative framework for overall event operations.
Participating departments and townships shared updates on venue operations, publicity, traffic and crowd management, safety measures and environmental upkeep, and discussed areas requiring further attention.
Cheongdo-gun also conducted a focused review of safety management protocols, carrying out a joint on-site safety inspection Wednesday at 3 p.m. that covered police, fire, electrical, gas and facility safety checks.
On the traffic front, the county is coordinating with police and volunteer traffic organizations to manage vehicle flow, and will operate shuttle buses on four routes at 20-minute intervals to ease parking shortages.
"We need to further strengthen promotion of Cheongdo persimmons and actively explore ways to improve the festival's image," Cheongdo-gun Mayor Park Gwon-hyeon said. "Above all, since this is an event that draws many residents and tourists, we will meticulously address every issue identified and ensure there are no gaps in safety management."
