The Korea Coast Guard Education Institute said 25 junior officers, including newly recruited inspectors, are undergoing a 12-day training program at a US Coast Guard training center to strengthen their leadership and operational capabilities.

A group of 12 junior officers began visiting the USCG training center Wednesday, where they will complete a range of practical leadership and management courses covering conflict resolution with subordinates and organizational motivation.

The officers will also tour key advanced facilities, including the USCG Pacific Area Command, the San Francisco sector operations center, a maritime traffic control center and an aviation unit, gaining firsthand exposure to advanced maritime law enforcement systems and on-site response techniques.

Ko Min-gwan, director of the institute, said the program has been running since 2023 to help junior officers acquire leadership skills and organizational management techniques from advanced maritime law enforcement agencies and build world-class maritime security capabilities.
