The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a "traveling FTA trade desk seminar and consultation session" for local small and medium-sized enterprises Wednesday afternoon at its international conference hall and mid-sized meeting room.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Busan FTA Trade Promotion Center, the event was designed to strengthen the FTA utilization and trade response capabilities of regional export-import companies facing exchange rate volatility and uncertainty in the global trade environment.

The Busan FTA Trade Promotion Center, operated by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has provided a range of support to local export-import firms since its establishment in 2011, including FTA utilization consulting, practical education on country-of-origin management, trade briefings and customized one-on-one consultations.

The seminar introduced practical trade information and support programs covering foreign exchange market conditions and exchange rate risk management in a high-rate environment, an overview of the trade remedy regime and dispute response strategies, and overseas export bond recovery support services. Separately, experts held individual one-on-one consultations with participating companies, listening to their trade and export difficulties and advising on tailored response strategies and available support programs.

"As the burden on regional export-import companies continues to grow amid rapidly shifting trade conditions, we will play our part in easing their trade difficulties by providing practical, on-the-ground information and customized consultations they can put to use right away," an official at the Busan FTA Trade Promotion Center said.
