World-renowned pianist Lim Yunchan will head to Gangneung in late autumn, bringing his interpretation of Mozart's melodies to the city's seaside stage.

Gangneung Arts Center will host "Lim Yunchan Piano Recital" at Saimdang Hall on Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Lim rose to international prominence in 2022 when he became the youngest winner in the history of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, claiming the top prize at the 16th edition at age 18. He has since performed with major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and Boston Symphony, and has given recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London. He ranks among the world's finest pianists, alongside Cho Seong-jin.

The Gangneung concert is programmed to mark the 270th anniversary of Mozart's birth.

Lim will perform five sonatas: Piano Sonata No. 11, best known for its "Turkish March" finale, along with Nos. 4, 13, 9 and 7. The program spans the full range of Mozart's musical character, from crystalline, delicate melodies to vivid emotional contrasts.

Gangneung residents will receive priority booking access. Gangneung Arts Center has set up a dedicated ticketing page for local residents and reserved 50 percent of available seats for their early purchase window, ensuring that citizens can attend a world-class performance at a venue close to home.

Ticket sales open at 2 p.m. Monday for Gangneung residents, Tuesday for paid members and Wednesday for all members. Prices range from 40,000 won ($30) to 150,000 won, and the concert is open to elementary school students and older. Residents who use the priority booking window must bring a valid ID confirming their identity and Gangneung address on the day of the performance.
