Dong-A Pharmaceutical is launching three new liquid stick cold medicines under the name Panpyrin Time Ibuprofen.

The lineup consists of Panpyrin Time Ibuprofen Cold, Cough and Nose. All three share ibuprofen as the primary active ingredient, but each carries a different set of secondary ingredients tailored to specific cold symptoms.

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. It is widely used as a key ingredient in fever and pain relievers and is also employed in medicines for cold symptom relief.

The launches became possible after the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety revised its standard manufacturing guidelines for over-the-counter cold medicines in January to include ibuprofen alongside the previously approved acetaminophen.

Each 20-milliliter stick pack contains 150 milligrams of ibuprofen, with secondary ingredients varying by product. The company said the medicines can help relieve a range of cold symptoms, including fever, pain, sore throat, sinusitis and body aches.

The Cold variant is formulated to address a broad range of cold symptoms, while Cough focuses on coughing and throat-related symptoms and Nose targets nasal symptoms.

"The three ibuprofen sticks are the first liquid stick formulation among ibuprofen-based cold medicines in South Korea," Dong-A Pharmaceutical said, adding that the new ibuprofen lineup expands consumer choice beyond the company's existing acetaminophen-based Panpyrin products.
