Free enrollment open to anyone 60 and older
NH NongHyup Bank said enrollment in its voice phishing compensation insurance program for older adults has surpassed 180,000.
Enrollment reached 180,000 as of the end of September, and the bank expects the figure to exceed 200,000 soon. The program was launched to build a financial safety net for older adults — a demographic particularly vulnerable to financial fraud — to help them recover economically after falling victim to scams.
The insurance is a public-interest initiative designed to support the financial recovery of older adults who suffer losses from voice phishing and other financial fraud. Anyone aged 60 or older can enroll free of charge, with no premium required.
NH NongHyup Bank has been expanding outreach and enrollment support by linking its nationwide branch network with local communities. The bank also offers voice phishing prevention education and enrollment assistance at community events that draw large numbers of older adults and farmers, including rural medical outreach bus stops and agricultural park golf tournaments.
"Surpassing 180,000 enrollees in the voice phishing compensation insurance program is significant because it shows that a financial safety net for older adults is spreading nationwide," said Park Jang-soon, executive vice president of NH NongHyup Bank's consumer protection division. "We will continue to work closely with our branches and local communities across the country to help more people protect themselves against financial fraud."
