A woman in her 30s who attacked her live-in partner with a knife because he had gone home early while they were drinking together has received a suspended prison sentence.
Judge Ha Seok-chan of the Namyangju Branch of Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, 39, to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, on charges of attempted aggravated assault, according to Newsis on Monday.
A was indicted after she attacked B, 44, her common-law partner, with a knife at their residence in Namyangju in July. B had left the bar where the two were drinking together and returned home ahead of her, and A found him lying in bed when she arrived.
When B used a blanket to block the knife, A struck him in the face multiple times with her other hand.
The court noted that A had a prior conviction for a similar offense, but said it took into account that she had no prior punishment beyond a fine, that she admitted to the crime, and that the victim, having reached a settlement with her, did not wish to see her punished.
