Busan international routes to expand to 15
Jejuair announced Tuesday it will launch a new Busan–Manila route starting Dec. 17, operating five days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Flights will depart Gimhae International Airport at 9:30 p.m. (local time) and arrive at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 12:45 a.m. the following day. The return service will leave Manila at 1:45 a.m. and land at Gimhae at 7:20 a.m. the same day.
Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a year-round warm-weather destination known for its Spanish colonial heritage — including the walled district of Intramuros, San Agustin Church and Fort Santiago. The city also draws visitors with its sprawling shopping malls, local markets and diverse cuisine, while day tours to nearby waterfalls and islands are particularly popular.
To mark the launch, Jejuair will run a promotional campaign through Oct. 25, offering members-only discount codes of up to 50 percent off, partner discounts on Philippine accommodation and travel, and a free 1GB eSIM on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Busan has become so popular among foreign tourists that a new word — 'Busan syndrome' — has emerged, and we expect strong inbound demand as we expand direct international routes from the city," a Jejuair official said. "We will continue developing routes that reflect travel demand from Busan and other regions across the country, and enhance consumer convenience and global competitiveness through flexible operations."
Meanwhile, Jejuair carried about 10.13 million passengers on domestic and international routes combined in the first nine months of this year — the fastest pace among South Korean low-cost carriers and a record high for the January–September period. Passenger numbers rose more than 13 percent from last year, driven particularly by expanded international supply on Japan and China routes.
