GS Retail, aT ink MOU on traditional liquor
Wine25Plus to carry traditional liquors; offline expansion planned
GS Retail announced Tuesday it has signed an MOU with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) to promote traditional Korean liquor consumption and expand sales channels for local breweries.
Under the agreement, GS Retail will introduce and sell aT-recommended premium traditional liquors and award-winning entries from the Woori Sul competition through Wine25Plus, its smart liquor ordering service. Customers who place orders can pick up their purchases at nearby GS25 or GS The Fresh stores. The company also plans to select competitive products based on online sales performance and expand their availability to offline stores, including GS25 and GS The Fresh locations.
The two organizations will also run joint marketing campaigns. GS Retail will operate a dedicated traditional liquor section within Wine25Plus this month, and in November will launch a "Visiting Brewery" corner on the platform. Toward year-end, the companies plan to hold a joint promotional event featuring home-party packages centered on traditional liquors.
A local brand-building campaign tied to aT's "Visiting Brewery" program is also in the works. GS Retail plans to spotlight quality products from regional breweries, share information about traditional liquors made with locally grown ingredients, and gradually increase related content and sales opportunities.
"We will continue to leverage GS Retail's online and offline distribution network to strengthen partnerships with local breweries, while presenting differentiated traditional liquor products and content to enhance our platform competitiveness," said Jeon Jin-hyeok, head of GS Retail's O4O division.
