First large-scale integrated training since merger agreement
Covers four job categories: general, cabin crew, technology and maintenance
270 employees promoted to manager and deputy manager level
Jin Air announced Tuesday it is running a joint promotion training program for employees across the three-low-cost carrier alliance, aimed at developing key talent to lead the successful launch and future growth of the combined carrier.
The training is the first large-scale integrated program since the three carriers approved the merger and signed the agreement on Aug. 21. It targets 270 employees recently promoted to manager or deputy manager level across four job categories — general, cabin crew, technology and maintenance — and will be held five times between October and November.
The program focuses on defining the roles of each grade, strengthening communication built on mutual respect, and improving on-site problem-solving skills. Participants from all three carriers are grouped together throughout, with the aim of creating a genuine forum for organizational integration.
Tailored programs have also been developed for each grade. The manager-level track is designed to cultivate leaders who can bridge executive strategy with frontline operations. It includes problem-solving exercises based on real scenarios — such as responding to system failures after the integrated platform goes live — as well as decision-making simulations on strategies for securing new routes.
The deputy manager-level track focuses on building the bridging skills needed to connect different work practices and corporate cultures. The program is structured around real workplace conflict scenarios — such as a passenger requesting additional baggage just before check-in closes — to help participants understand differing perspectives. It also includes communication exercises tailored to different personality types and simulated collaborative tasks, all aimed at fostering a sense of unity as one team.
"This training goes beyond a standard grade-level program — it is focused on maximizing the synergies of the three-way integration and developing the key talent who will drive future growth," a Jin Air official said. "We will push ahead without delay on integrating not only the physical infrastructure but also the people and organizational culture needed for a successful merger."
Meanwhile, Jin Air is accelerating preparations for the launch of the combined carrier in March next year, having recently received final merger approval from Vietnam's competition authority. Following that decision, the airline plans to proceed with the remaining administrative steps in South Korea, including merger approval from the Fair Trade Commission and authorization from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
