Cheongsong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will begin distributing 16 free emoticons featuring its apple mascots "Cheongi and Songi" on Wednesday to promote the 20th Cheongsong Apple Festival and raise awareness of the county's attractions, officials announced Tuesday.

The emoticons were created around the theme "Right Now, Cheongsong! Cheongsong Apple Festival" and use the county's signature characters, Cheongi and Songi, to capture the festive spirit of the apple festival in a warm and approachable way.

The designs also incorporate iconic local destinations such as Juwangsan and Cheongsong Garden, with the aim of showcasing the county's diverse appeal and strengthening name recognition for its "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun" brand.

The Cheongi and Songi emoticons feature cute, everyday imagery so anyone can use them freely in daily conversations.

The emoticons are available for download by adding the "Cheongsong County Office" channel on KakaoTalk, on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 75,000 users. Each download is valid for 30 days from the date of receipt.

"Through this emoticon release, we hope to introduce the Cheongsong Apple Festival to more people across the country and share the many charms of Cheongsong in a friendly way," Cheongsong County Chief Yun Gyeong-hui said. "We invite everyone to meet Cheongsong online first, and then come experience the joy of Cheongsong in person at the 20th Cheongsong Apple Festival."

The 20th Cheongsong Apple Festival will be held for five days from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8 along the Yongjeoncheon stream in Cheongsong-eup under the theme "Right Now, Cheongsong! Awash in Apples." The festival will offer a range of performances, hands-on programs, exhibitions and sales events to give visitors a rich variety of things to see and do.
