Applications open Monday through Oct. 30; 10 companies to be selected
Gyeonggi Province is launching a pilot program to identify construction companies with sound management practices and strong technological competitiveness, and to promote a culture of fair bidding across the industry.
The initiative moves away from regulation-heavy construction policy, instead rewarding high-performing firms with new opportunities to support the sustained growth and revitalization of the construction sector.
The province plans to select 10 companies from among construction firms in the region that have received at least one favorable rating in Gyeonggi Province's public bidding inspection, following a formal review process.
The review begins with a preliminary check covering construction business registration requirements, serious accidents, tax delinquency and administrative sanctions. Candidates then undergo a quantitative evaluation and a qualitative assessment by a review committee. The quantitative criteria include regulatory compliance, financial soundness, sustainability, new technology and patents, and contributions to construction in Gyeonggi Province. The qualitative assessment covers construction capability, safety management and cooperative partnerships.
Selected companies will receive incentives including an extended grace period from public bidding inspections and promotional support.
Applications will be accepted from Monday through Oct. 30 through the Gyeonggi Province chapters of the Korea Federation of Construction Contractors and the Korea Specialty Contractors Association. Final selections will be announced in late December after preliminary reviews and both quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
"Through this pilot program, we will identify outstanding construction companies that practice fair bidding and sound management, and work to spread a culture of fair bidding throughout the construction industry," said Bae Seong-ho, director of the Gyeonggi Province Construction Bureau.
