Incheon's Namdong-gu district is moving to expand its advanced-industry ecosystem and create local jobs after securing a new production base for Dongwon Parts Co., a key supplier to global semiconductor equipment makers.

Namdong-gu announced Monday that Dongwon Parts, a precision semiconductor components manufacturer, has confirmed plans to build and move into a seventh factory within the Incheon Namdong Urban Advanced Industrial Complex.

Dongwon Parts is a major supplier of high-precision components to Lam Research, a global semiconductor equipment company.

Driven by sustained technology investment and an expanding global supply chain, the company posted sales growth of more than 50 percent last year compared with the previous year.

The new seventh factory is set to serve as a forward base for scaling up component supply to global semiconductor customers, including Lam Research.

Once the new production lines begin operation, the facility is expected to generate advanced jobs across precision machining, quality inspection and design, helping ease employment pressures on local youth.

Namdong-gu said it plans to use the investment as a springboard to strengthen the district's semiconductor materials, parts and equipment industry, and to upgrade the Namdong National Industrial Complex — long centered on traditional manufacturing — toward higher-value advanced industries.

"Attracting Dongwon Parts is a key achievement that will improve Namdong-gu's industrial profile and increase the number of quality jobs," Namdong-gu District Mayor Lee Byung-rae said.
