The Hwaam Healing Campsite inside the Hwaam tourism zone in Jeongseon-gun has opened. The site serves as a gateway to the county's hidden-gem autumn foliage — and it comes with a decidedly upscale feel.

According to Jeongseon-gun, the campsite was built at a cost of 3.3 billion won ($2.47 million) and is designed to offer both nature-based relaxation and cultural experiences. Located in the Hwaam-ri area, the site covers 7,183 square meters.

The campsite has 45 deck sites and three glamping units, along with washing and shower facilities and other amenities. A range of cultural programs is also being developed. Jeongseon-gun has experience organizing impromptu busking performances by domestic and international musicians at Byeongbangchi and Mindungsan.

When the mountains surrounding the campsite turn to autumn colors, campers can take in sweeping views of red-tinged hillsides from anywhere on the grounds.

Nearby attractions include Hwaam mineral spring, an octagonal pavilion cafe and a suspension bridge, making the site a draw for visitors year-round, not just in fall.

Check-in is from 2 p.m. to 11 a.m. the following day. Deck site fees range from 30,000 won to 70,000 won depending on the season, while glamping units run from 110,000 won to 190,000 won. Sauna access costs 30,000 won. Reservations can be made online through the Jeongseon-gun Facilities Management Corporation.

"We will operate the campsite so that it becomes a destination where visitors can enjoy the beautiful nature of Hwaam up close and spend leisurely time with family, friends and loved ones," said Jeon Jeung-pyo, chairman of the Jeongseon-gun Facilities Management Corporation.
