New outpost near NPS fund management headquarters

Seoul expertise linked with affiliate specializations

Samsung Asset Management has opened a new office in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, the company announced Monday, marking the start of full operations at the site.

The new Jeonju office is located near the National Pension Service's fund management headquarters. The company completed the setup on Sept. 28 and began on-site operations Oct. 1.

Samsung Active Asset Management and Samsung SRA Asset Management have also moved into the office, with the three firms planning to organically link their respective areas of expertise.

An opening ceremony held Monday was attended by Samsung Asset Management CEO Kim Woo-seok, Samsung Active Asset Management CEO Ha Ji-won and Samsung SRA Asset Management CEO Kim Jeong-geun, along with other executives from Samsung's asset management affiliates.

National Pension Service Chairman Kim Seong-ju, Jeonju Mayor Jo Ji-hun and North Jeolla Province business attraction support director Yu Hui-suk were also present.

Samsung Asset Management said it plans to use the Jeonju office to expand direct engagement with the National Pension Service and strengthen ongoing communication. The company also intends to link the office with specialized teams at its Seoul headquarters — covering investment management, research and products — to deliver more hands-on service.

The office will combine Samsung Asset Management's investment capabilities in traditional assets such as shares and bonds with its affiliates' expertise in active and alternative investments, enabling the company to offer a broad range of investment solutions spanning both traditional and alternative assets. The firm expects this to allow it to respond more comprehensively to the National Pension Service's diverse investment management needs.

"By opening the Jeonju office, we have laid the groundwork to communicate with the National Pension Service from a closer vantage point and respond immediately to a wide range of investment management needs," the company said. "We will continue to provide customers with differentiated investment solutions and the best possible service, drawing on the comprehensive investment capabilities and expertise of Samsung Asset Management and its affiliates."

Samsung Asset Management's total net assets stood at 181.24 trillion won ($135 billion) as of Wednesday, ranking first among domestic asset managers. Following the listing of the KODEX US AI Memory Top 2 Plus exchange-traded fund last month, the company is set to launch the KODEX US AI Agent Active ETF on Tuesday.
