The Yeongcheon City Council's lawmaker research group on improving the household waste collection and transport system held a kickoff briefing for its commissioned research study Wednesday at the council's meeting room.
Lawmaker Kwon Ki-han leads the research group, with lawmakers Ha Ki-tae and Kim Myeong-hui also taking part.
The briefing was attended by member lawmakers, relevant city officials and representatives from the Korea Institute of Fiscal and Economic Research, the foundation commissioned to carry out the study.
The final research findings are expected to be released in December.
"As this is a meaningful occasion marking the first step, we will do our utmost to ensure that voices from the field are fully reflected and that the research yields substantive, practical results," Kwon said.
