Police have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of killing his 2-month-old daughter at their home and are investigating the case.

The Osan Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced Sunday that it had apprehended the suspect, identified only as A, on murder charges.

A is suspected of causing the death of his 2-month-old daughter, identified only as B.

Police initially responded to a 112 emergency call at around 3:47 a.m. Sunday reporting that a 2-month-old child was not breathing at a residence in Seodong, Osan.

Paramedics transported the infant to a nearby hospital, where she died during treatment.

Officers discovered bruising and other signs of external trauma on the baby's body and launched an investigation after determining criminal conduct was possible.

During the investigation, police found that A — who had accompanied the child to the hospital — had deleted portions of home camera footage recorded inside the residence, and arrested him on murder charges.

A is believed to have used his mobile phone to remotely delete home camera footage from that morning shortly after his daughter was pronounced dead.

Police plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.
