"Odyssey" has become the highest-grossing foreign film ever released in South Korea, surpassing a record set four years ago by "Avatar: The Way of Water."
According to the integrated box office system, "Odyssey" had accumulated total sales of 138.35 billion won ($103 million) as of Saturday. That figure eclipses the previous record of 137.9 billion won set by "Avatar: The Way of Water."
The film has also overtaken the cumulative sales of other top-performing foreign titles in the domestic market, including the original "Avatar" at 125.2 billion won, "Avengers: Endgame" at 122.4 billion won and "Frozen 2" at 115 billion won.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, "Odyssey" has sustained its run for more than two months since opening Aug. 5. Total admissions stood at approximately 12.15 million as of Saturday.
