Geumcheon-myeon in Cheongdo-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, held the 4th Geumbich Music Concert on Wednesday at the outdoor performance venue of the Geumbich Center, drawing about 1,000 residents, organizational heads and invited guests.

The concert was organized by Geumcheon-myeon and its three saemaul organizations, with additional support from local groups including the village heads' council, the residents' self-governance committee, the community welfare council, the sports association, the lifestyle improvement association and the voluntary crime prevention patrol.

The event opened with a series of pre-show performances — sports dance, line dance, ocarina, chromawind and drumming — that drew an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The main program featured a special performance by singer Kang Jin, which lifted the atmosphere further. Music and community spirit came together on stage to enrich an autumn evening in Geumcheon-myeon.

Three donors also made contributions at the event: Oh Jin-seop, a senior tax accountant at Haean Tax Corporation, donated 1 million won ($747) to the hometown love fund; Lee Young-uk, dean of the College of Spatial Technology at Daegu Science University, donated the same amount to a talent-development scholarship fund; and Kim Jin-ok donated 1 million won to a child welfare fund.

During the donation ceremony, the chair of the residents' self-governance committee of Suseong 1-ga-dong — a sister community of Cheongdo-gun — announced on the spot a further donation of 1 million won to the Cheongdo-gun Talent Development Scholarship Foundation, drawing applause from those in attendance.

Cheongdo-gun Mayor Park Gwon-hyeon said he hoped the 4th Geumbich Music Concert had been "a meaningful occasion for residents to laugh, connect and come together as one," and expressed deep gratitude to all organizations, groups and residents who worked to make the event a success.
