Yeongdeok-gun County Chief Jo Ju-hong marked the 100th day of his ninth directly elected term Thursday, hosting a public forum at the county office under the theme "100 Days of the Ninth Elected Term, Preparing Yeongdeok-gun's Next 100 Years."
About 100 residents from across the county took part, representing sectors including agriculture, fisheries, forestry, commerce, the environment, welfare, women's affairs, culture, tourism, sports and public health.
The forum was organized to share the county administration's direction and future vision with residents since the launch of the ninth elected term, and to gather firsthand feedback from daily life for incorporation into future governance.
Jo presented the administration's policy direction and vision for Yeongdeok-gun's future before engaging in an open exchange of views with attendees.
Yeongdeok-gun said it plans to go beyond simply listening to the opinions raised at the forum, reviewing them carefully by relevant departments in line with the principles of "listening, empathy, on-site engagement and action," and incorporating them into county governance.
Issues that can be addressed immediately will be acted on promptly, while proposals requiring medium- to long-term review will be examined comprehensively — weighing departmental assessments and feasibility — and managed on an ongoing basis.
The county also plans to expand communication-centered governance by continuing to hold such forums, rather than treating them as one-off events, so that residents' voices are heard directly in the field and reflected in policy.
"On the 100th day of the ninth elected term, I had the invaluable opportunity to hear a wide range of opinions directly from residents," Jo said. "I will do my utmost to carefully consider each and every one of those views, reflect them in county governance, and translate them into changes and results that residents can feel."
